Eleven Rotarians from RI District 3141 viz., Pradeep Godbole (RC Bombay Juhu Beach), Dr S Sivaramakrishnan (RC Chembur West), Naresh (Nandu) Shenoy (RC Deonar), Nilesh Samat (RC Bombay West), Jayen Mehta, Pradeep Shah, Amit Parikh, Ravi Sankawala, Manoj Mishra, Nilesh Popat and Anish Zaveri (all from RC Hanging Garden) participated in the 9th Rotary World Cricket Festival organized by International Fellowship of Cricket Loving Rotarians (IFCR) New Zealand at Christchurch during January 22-27, 2017. Around 160 Rotarians/Annes from India, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand participated in this festival. Indian contingent, comprising 60 Rotarians (distributed in 4 teams viz., India Masters, India Icons, India Superstars and India Legends), was the largest.
Pradeep (Captain), Dr Sivaramakrishnan (Siva), Nandu and Nilesh represented India Masters who won all their matches (versus Australia Combined, Australia Queensland and Sri Lanka). Pradeep retired thrice with scores on 35 and also took wickets in each match.
Overall it was a grand experience; meeting so many Cricket Loving Rotarians across the world and now all the Mumbai participants are looking forward to the 10th World Festival to be held at Melbourne in January 2019.
